About this event
On our tour of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Sanitary Landfill, we will see various methods of dealing with solid waste from the Fairbanks North Star Borough, including vehicle recycling and refrigerant removal, to asbestos handling in the first part of the tour. Then we will move on to see how the Borough handles Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), leachate (the liquids associated with trash), and construction and demolition debris and scrap metal recycling. We will discuss the life of the landfill and its construction. There will be time for questions and answers throughout the tour.
